Dave Ellis Clinic – Talk to the Feet!
June 23, 2016 - June 27, 2016
This will be Dave’s 8th consecutive year at Ladd Farm and 2016 will be extra special. The Dave Ellis Clinic will be strictly limited to 8 participants. This format sets your experience up for a unique level of focus and individual attention. The theme is “Talk to the Feet!”—an advancing and information gathering course that will allow you to progress your learning for your horsemanship long into the future. Join us to receive personalized insights to prepare you to go longer, stronger and further faster in your horsemanship journey.
We’ll explore and play with a growing specialization known as
COWBOY DRESSAGE.
Dave enjoys the style, precision and practical application of Cowboy Dressage. In November of 2015, Dave participated in the Cowboy Dressage Top Hand competition at Rancho Murieta, California. Then again in February 2016 he garnered 2 blue ribbons at the Cowboy Dressage gathering back at Rancho Murieta.
Dave’s latest collaboration with Cowboy Dressage founder Eitan Beth-Halachmy, will bring his years of experience and unique teaching style to New Hampshire with Eitan’s vision that Cowboy Dressage is a western discipline that is enhanced by dressage, not ruled by it. “Soft Feel” represents the highest achievement between horse and rider. There are no short cuts on the road to its success. It is a pure partnership built on trust and reward. Soft Feel is accomplished when a horse learns to “balance himself” and not have to rely on the riders hands to hold him in frame, “lightness” merely occurs.
Dave believes that Cowboy Dressage is a combination of the best of both worlds: Traditional Western and Classical Horsemanship. Each discipline of horsemanship is time honored and recognized on its own. Good Horsemanship, its principles, practices and teachings do not belong to just one discipline—it belongs to all disciplines, all breeds, all equestrians. Dressage and its development through history is a gift to all equestrians—to be shared by all and to be learned by all. It is not about the saddle, it is about the partnership, the relationship and the commitment of rider and horse.
